High Sheriff’s Afternoon Tea Party

On 4th September I held the equivalent of a county garden party (only it was indoors!). My theme was expanding awareness of the HS role in Greater London. All 32 London Borough Mayors were invited and over half of them came. Almost none of the Mayors attending had had any contact with the HSGL previously or were even cognisant of the role’s existence. The location was International Students House in the West End where I had lived as a student and much later had become Chairman of the charitable trust, a Governor and Life Vice President of the House.
