A series of Zoom meetings
As a result of the ongoing Covid wave in London back on Zoom. Invaluable during lockdown and also to reach new people. One such meeting was held on 1 February 2022 with Sayd Ahmed to discuss the work of various charities in Tower Hamlets and their need for partnering to provide additional support and finance.
Tower Hamlets is one of the poorest boroughs in London with a large population of Bangladeshi origin. There are many small charitable and voluntary organisations in Tower Hamlets providing considerable support to help people in the community in every way they can, many of whom are struggling.
We discussed the work of various charities ranging from those seeking to help children with additional studies in English and maths and the work of 13 Rivers Trust. The charity describes itself as an energetic and dynamic charity which focuses its work around needy individuals and communities left behind by mainstream society. 13 Rivers Trust celebrate the contribution made by elders in the community and emulates their good practice of helping others. All their services are delivered by local people, including support to those who are socially isolated and the terminally ill. Support is also provided to those in need to afford a Muslim burial.
