MACFEST panel on Islamaphobia, a great conversation on an important topic

An honour to be invited on a panel of distinguished speakers as part of the MACFEST Muslim arts and culture festival, a programme of cultural events designed to celebrate, break down barriers and bring communities together. This festival was first developed by Qaisra Shahraz MBE to tackle Anti Muslim feeling and behaviours by raising awareness of Muslim arts and culture and bringing people together to celebrate. The programme now has a national and international reach, thanks to the lockdowns and having to take to Zoom.

Terrific opportunity to hear Professor Ahmed, a renowned academic and former diplomat, poet and film maker, now based in the USA and Baroness Warsi, who has led the charge in developing policy to tackle Islamaphobia in Parliament, debate issues and possible ways forward to tackle Islamaphobia. Hosted by Dr Myriam Francois, a writer and broadcaster, this led to some lively questions and answers. Connecting communities is key and at the heart of our work so delighted to be a part of this programme.

The MACFEST programme is rich and diverse and covers so much ground. Do check it out. A wonderful opportunity to learn and enjoy!
